The Hummingbird circle began as a small drawing in my sketchbook, a moment of stillness where I imagined a tiny winged healer suspended inside a circle of life. I carved her in wax first, shaping each feather and curve until she felt alive. From that carving she was cast in warm red bronze and touched with a soft green patina, the colors settling into her details.
Her eye holds a set amethyst ... a quiet spark that mirrors the gentle resilience hummingbirds embody. The back of the medallion contains a more ancient vision, inspired by the ochre cave paintings left by our earliest makers. A symbol that feels timeless.
For this mala I chose stones that echo her spirit. Amethyst for clarity and calm. Selenite for cleansing and light. Obsidian for grounding. Each bead is hand knotted on silk, with lace inspired African bronze spacer beads and a luminous amethyst guru bead leading seamlessly to the hummingbird circle. This mala is finished with a hand made tassel that carries the lineage of traditional malas forward into a new form.
