Seduced by Nature ~ Modern mala in Sterling Silver

Seduced by Nature is one of those pieces that came through my hands slowly ... carved, shaped, and refined from hard jeweler's wax until she felt alive. From that original carving she was cast in solid sterling silver using the traditional lost-wax method, then patinaed and polished by hand. 

The back of the medallion carries subtle growth rings, an echo of the tree she has become one with ... a reflection of how we grow and soften and return to ourselves, season after season, in harmony with the world around us. This is a substantial piece, two inches in diameter, with a grounding weight that feels like holding a small, sacred relic. 

For the mala I chose gemstones that carry the same earthy, vibrant spirit: sodalite, chrysocolla, labradorite and obsidian. Every bead is hand selected and individually hand knotted on silk. The traditional 108 beads are arranged in four quadrants of 27, separated by sterling silver space beads. A chrysocolla guru bead creates a seamless transition into the medallion so the strand and the focal point feel like one continuous flow. The mala finishes in a handmade silk tassel, a quiet gesture toward the ancient lineage that inspired this modern interpretation. 

This mala can be worn as adornment, held during meditation or kept on your personal altar. However you use it, my hope is that it feels like an invitation ... a way to step closer to the natural world and yourself. 

She retreats to the woods…
Light shimmering across her path,
breath deep with the scent of earth.
Roots unfurl beneath her skin,
branches rise through her spine,
the forest becoming her,
and she becoming the forest.
In that quiet merging…
she remembers herself,
and is home.
